Cllr Andrew Harper
Cllr Andrew Harper is Deputy Leader of Barnet London Borough Council and Cabinet Member for Children’s Services.
Andrew was first elected in May 2005 to represent Garden Suburb ward, having lived in the area for over 20 years. He was appointed Cabinet Member for Policy & Performance in September 2006; subsequently, he held the Environment & Transport portfolio.
He is a Council-nominated trustee of artsdepot in Finchley and a governor of the Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute.
Andrew retired from BP in 2003 after a career spent mainly in corporate communications, in London, Brussels and Melbourne, Australia. Since then, he has worked as a consultant to the Industry and Parliament Trust, of which he is a Corporate Fellow, and the Chemical Industries Association, and as a volunteer for the Environment Trust and the Bromley-by-Bow Centre.
Andrew is a member of Tory Green Initiative, the National Trust and Middlesex County Cricket Club.
